Riverside City College

About the institution

Riverside City College, founded in 1916, is located in Southern California, an hour’s drive east of Los Angeles. RCCD opened two additional campuses in 1991 in nearby Norco and Moreno Valley.

Riverside is a traditional Southern California community. Museums, a symphony orchestra, and theater companies add to the cultural life of the region. More than twenty-five colleges and universities, including University of California, California State University, and Loma Linda University are located within 30 miles of Riverside.

Riverside is an ideal location from which to enjoy Southern California’s attractions. Newport and Laguna Beach, the San Bernardino Mountains, the Palm Springs desert resort region, and Disneyland are all within an hour’s drive. Weather is mild, with a Mediterranean climate.

The District, which has three colleges, enrolls approximately 32,000 people. Part of the California Community College system, RCCD offers the first two years of a four-year education. Students are prepared to transfer to four-year universities for the final two years of study toward a Baccalaureate degree.

The Center for International Students provides assistance in selecting courses that will be accepted for transfer to California State University and University of California campuses, as well as to private colleges and universities throughout the United States.

More than 2,000 classes are offered each semester in more than 60 majors. In addition to courses that prepare for transfer, the College offers courses leading to the Associate degree, which is awarded after two years (or 60 units) of study. Courses in Business Administration, Computer Information System, Pre-Engineering, English, and Office Administration are popular with international students. Certificate programs in many occupational fields are also available.
