We also offer Associate Degrees and Professional Certificates for students wanting practical vocational study. Because of our excellence in life sciences and biotechnology, MiraCosta is one of only 15 community colleges approved to offer a Bachelor’s degree.

ESL program and Intensive English Language Program (IELP)
International students benefit from English language support to succeed in college classes. International students can start college classes with TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test. MiraCosta’s English Language Institute (ELI) offers international students the opportunity to increase their English language proficiency and develop the skills needed for success in a college or university in the United States. The program is designed for students with a minimum of one-year of English language training at the high school or college level.
The College does not have on-campus housing; however, the International Office can provide our students with resources to find a host family or private housing in our area.
MiraCosta makes admission easy! International students complete a one-page International student application form, financial documents ($24,000), English proficiency tests such as TOEFL iBT 46, high school/university transcripts, and passport copy.

Although MiraCosta does not have scholarships for new students, international students are awarded scholarships each year in our continuing student scholarship competitions! Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship is the biggest scholarship (up to $40,000/year) to which international students can also apply. Starting in 2020, the international office also secured one $8,000 one year tuition scholarship for an international student completing one year of study in Science, Math, or technology-related field.

Student life at MiraCosta means making friends and sharing culture. With more than 60 student-run clubs, international students benefit from taking leadership roles in clubs and student government to distinguish themselves in the university transfer programs. Free academic support and enrichment programs are a secret to international student success at MiraCosta. International students have dedicated academic and career counselors to ensure they choose a successful program and stay on the path. The international office can help a student access campus jobs, internships, community volunteering, health center, and counseling support to meet both the personal and academic needs of each student.
